Thomas Pilcher aims to disrupt the dissonance between past and present, by creating worlds and scenarios where futures and pasts intertwine. Working predominantly in image maker, a time based medium, Thomas physically combines photographs from different periods in his life.

 

After discovering a wealth of photographs and other materials from several generations of his family, Thomas intends to extend his collapsing of time, incorporating this imagery into his image maker works, creating a distorted blend of time frames, histories and ancestries. He aims to enhance this sense of nostalgia by incorporating installation and video into his work.

 

Thomas is fascinated by his own past, and reluctant to let go of memories, he urges the viewer to reflect on and recollect their own history, inviting them on a journey in time.
