SAMANTHA WALLIS
Samantha Wallis' practice explores the concept of "dirt", something considered unappealing and how the only definition for it, in her opinion, is "matter out of place". This judgement is dictated by society and culture. Her medium is dust and hair, which represent bodily replenishment, as dead skin cells contribute to the accumulation of dust and hair malts. Playing with the boundaries between the appealing and repellent she would like her audience to experience her work with a mixture of natural curiosity and natural repellent. From exploring the abject she has become fascinated with the concept of transforming something figurative and with a skin of dust and hair to evoke the loss of the distinction between the object and the subject.
