RACHEL FOSTER
Rachel Foster is fascinated with installing a sense of wonder within the viewer through her contemporary take on the 16th century cabinets of curiosity or Wunderkammer. The encyclopedic collection of objects displayed within the old cabinets demonstrates a haphazard accumulation of bizarre oddities, which Rachel intends to play upon and contextualise within her practice. Through the experimental nature of her works the viewer is confronted with a mash up of objects and images rendered in differing mediums, leaving the viewer to decipher and interpret the work as they wish. Her work aims to reproduce the cabinets of curiosity within a contemporary context by depicting an arrangement of popular culture objects.
