MARIA KYRIAKOU
Life is formed by an interaction of memory and loss of memory. Maria’s practice is constantly influenced by the concepts of psychology, life experiences and fragments of memory. She explores how the experiences we have in our waking life influence our sleep, and how the unconscious overlap of personal anxiety affects her conscious life. The current practice emphasises in the demonstration of disorientation and anxiety expressed in her dreams. It is investigated how the fragmented remains of memory during the unconscious overlap in sleep can be translated into different forms of art. This visual study is a result of her need to discover more about the unconscious mind and herself.
