JULIA MOYES
Julia Moyes investigates the voice of rivers, using both their temporary and infinite lives as a metaphor on time. No river runs with the same waters, it journeys and grows into wider oceans, experiencing many histories and stories hidden in the water’s layered depths. Through the art of walking and experiencing a journey, Julia investigates the River Cuckmere’s path to express its endless time in her installations. She creates complex map drawings depicting her route repetitively, using the time and effort to create them to reflect on the time and effort of the walk. Through a recent scientific discovery that reveals water’s properties to store information in an act of it remembering what it touches, Julia creates memories for water by creating narratives and vessels that ride the river’s route, further adding to the vast database of information that rivers hold.
