HOLLY GERRARD
Holly Gerrard explores her fascination with the miniature and its presence within space and time. As the miniature is a feature of our past childhood memories, she is driven by our constant referencing to scale, and its ability to change our perception of spaces and objects. The concept of a memory inherently lies within the past; however, through its continuing existence within an individual’s mind, it thus becomes part of the present, and the future. Holly takes inspiration from post-industrialism and the remaining derelict urban decay, which is overcome and uncontrollably reclaimed by nature, in contrast to the sublime, idealistic nature of rural model villages. This idea of a form of a dead life maintained within another living life, and its ability to proliferate continuously through time feeds her interest, in a form of encapsulated entropy.
