CAMILLA HOWE

Photographer Camilla Howe uses her perception of the outside world to portray her ideas of the Everyday, Identity and Culture. By using either digital photography, or analogue within documentary representation she encourages the viewer to observe how we act in the spaces we occupy. In the past she has gone from focusing on the details of the spaces we live in, to questioning how we act from public to private spaces and finally to documenting the Turkish people she came to know during her year abroad and upon her return to the UK. With her experience in documentary video, she continues to question human behaviour, developing her ideas of thresholds between exterior and interior spaces and how they can vary within different cultures. Alongside these ideas, she experiments with the physical boundaries of darkroom photography whilst intertwining concepts of time and place.
