BZHAR BABAN
Bzhar’s mornings are spent at the same Café Nero store. Doodling in his sketchbook with a steaming hot mug of Nero’s finest is his time for reflection.
Social status is irrelevant. It is humbling being at the same level with all people regardless of nationality, position etc. Bzhar learned that we are all the same, much like coffee beans!
He became friendly with a beautiful barista. One morning, he was surprised to notice that she was very sad. She held a handful of coffee beans in her hand and was near tears. Upon seeing him, she began to wear her ‘work mask’; a forced smile. He impulsively hugged her. They were both given a very real chance to be themselves, a moment of reality in this consumer driven rat race that life has become. Life itself became that embrace; colourised by the aroma of fresh ground coffee.
Bzhar was inspired and the resulting work represents the aesthetic differences between a painting and a statue. He has created a realism painting and statue of a young woman and man surrounded by coffee beans inside a cube. This will help in understanding what people are most interested by in the 21st Century.
