BENJAMIN KING
Benjamin King’s practice is an ongoing confrontation with the ‘gap’ between ambition, expectation and availability. Having spent time as a bar steward at the Sudbury Institute Club in his late teenage years, Benjamin King has obsessed over social judgements and generational differences ever since. Through a subversive performance/video practice of body and voice, Benjamin King investigates and challenges perceptions rooted in our society. Previous works have included ‘WikiHow: How to Tennis Serve’ - a short film in which he executed an incorrect ‘user-submitted’ guide to serving a tennis ball; and the ‘Post-Prospective Thinking Group’ - adapting the role of a campaigner and fundraiser inviting discussion out side the exhibition space.
