ANGELA STAVRINIDES
Clothing and personal appearance are significant signs of others people’s behaviour. Angela Stavrinides explores how clothing as a type of an object fashion, expresses our social identity and it provides opportunities to place us socially to the outer world. Cloth is a reflection of what we are thinking and what we are feeling. Clothing involvement is affected by an individual’s gender, age, religion and materialism. Angela Stavrinides makes a reference to the connection between fashion and personal identity. She is discovering her real identity by a process of examining her reactions to the various styles as a part of a process of coming to realize who she really is. Paper becomes fabric and several elements taken from the everyday/natural world return into design, from which she gets inspired. She creates an installation of two hundred paper dresses trying to show that her current life gets inspired by her current place of living.
