Alexandra’s practice takes a critical view of social and cultural issues. It is mainly concerned with archetypes that exist within society, which we as humans are unable to identify at first glance. She strives to form these personalities using their behavioural characteristics and personal possessions. Alexandra has used de-constructional and re-constructional elements in order to create a series of multi-sized sculptures. The colours and materials she uses, establish an abstract-surreal quality that indicates the uniqueness and individuality of each archetype. Her work reproduces familiar visual objects and signs that are arranged together in new conceptually layered pieces. She uses “modern society” resources in order to illustrate the connection between archetypes and the material world that they consist of. The works that she has fashioned are grouped around the evaluation of different personalities. She created a variety of abstract-surrealistic creatures in order to illustrate their “alien-like” existence.
